The GINKGO biloba ‘Mariken’<\/strong> is a miniature maidenhair tree<\/strong>. Unlike its rather upright ancestors, it grows only a few centimeters per year in a globular and compact shape<\/strong>. However, this tiny tree is just as resilient, including against disease and pollution<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Moreover, the green leaves are of normal size, but very dense<\/strong>. They turn an intense yellow in autumn. <\/p>\n

Given its tiny size, of course, this plant is suitable for gardens of any size<\/strong>, even the smallest. It also grows very well in pots<\/strong> on a terrace or on a patio. <\/p>\n

Obviously, bonsai enthusiasts will be delighted, as this prehistoric living fossil<\/strong> lends itself perfectly to this very delicate art.<\/p>\n

How to plant and care for GINKGO biloba ‘Mariken’?<\/h2>\n

Planting<\/h3>\n

Despite being a low-maintenance plant, observe the following points:<\/p>\n

    History and Origin<\/h2>\n

    GINKGO biloba trees represent a lineage that appeared more than 270 million years ago, well before the dinosaurs. It survived ice ages and geological upheavals. These trees were cultivated in Buddhist temples. <\/p>\n

    What makes this species fascinating is also its resilience: it survived the bombing of Hiroshima and thus became a symbol of peace and longevity.<\/p>\n
