The Cypress of Las Guaitecas<\/b> is a highly sought-after conifer among connoisseurs. As the sole species of its genus<\/strong>, Pilgerodendron uviferum<\/strong> is truly unique.     History and Origin<\/h2>\n

    The Cypress of Las Guaitecas is a true testament to the Earth’s history. Indeed, it is the southernmost conifer on the planet, thriving in regions with extreme climatic conditions. <\/p>\n

    Indigenous peoples used it for the construction of boats and houses. In the 19th century, Pilgerodendron uviferum experienced a real boom. Its wood was used in the production of railroad ties. <\/p>\n

    Beyond its botanical interest, this tree also holds economic significance. Its very dense and resistant wood is particularly prized in cabinetmaking and boatbuilding. <\/p>\n

    Unfortunately, due to excessive exploitation, the species has become rare, necessitating urgent conservation efforts. In fact, it is classified as an endangered species. <\/p>\n
