PRUNUS serrulata ‘Royal Burgundy’ is a real marvel in spring, summer and fall.
Indeed, in spring, it produces a veritable tidal wave of large double pink flowers in bouquets (see photos). Each flower measures approximately 5 cm in diameter and remains on the tree for several weeks.
Then, in summer, its burgundy red foliage clearly distinguishes it from other flowering cherry trees.
Finally, in autumn, the foliage of this Japanese cherry tree takes on flamboyant colors (yellow and orange).
It is a small tree that is straightforward to grow.

The type species, PRUNUS serrulata is a flowering cherry endemic to Japan, China, Korea and Vietnam.

The Japanese have worked hard to develop crossbreeding of wild species. These are used in ornamental gardens for their extremely decorative aspects.
