Die Pflanze<\/h2>\n

Der GINKGO biloba ‚Saratoga‘<\/em> unterscheidet sich von anderen F\u00e4cherb\u00e4umen<\/em> durch sein einzigartiges Laub. Tats\u00e4chlich weisen die gr\u00fcnen und gelappten Bl\u00e4tter eine besonders tiefe Teilung mit zwei recht feinen Lappen auf (siehe Fotos). Sie h\u00e4ngen leicht herunter.<\/p>\n

Im Herbst nehmen seine Bl\u00e4tter eine reizvolle goldgelbe Farbe an (siehe Fotos) und verleihen dem Garten eine sch\u00f6ne Farbe. Anschlie\u00dfend fallen sie fast gleichzeitig ab, wodurch ein pr\u00e4chtiger goldener Teppich zu F\u00fc\u00dfen der Pflanze entsteht.<\/p>\n

Dieser F\u00e4cherbaum<\/em> w\u00e4chst noch langsamer und viel kleiner als die typische Art. Er \u00fcbersteigt nach 10 Jahren in der Regel nicht 4 Meter, w\u00e4hrend die typische Art bereits 6 bis 7 Meter erreicht hat. Er entwickelt eine eher schlanke und regelm\u00e4\u00dfige Form.<\/p>\n

Schlie\u00dflich ist der G. biloba ‚Saratoga‘ eine m\u00e4nnliche Selektion. Daher produziert er keine \u00fcbelriechenden Fr\u00fcchte. Er ist besonders widerstandsf\u00e4hig gegen st\u00e4dtische Umweltverschmutzung und kalte Winter.<\/p>\n

Geschichte und Herkunft<\/h2>\n

Die Saratoga Horticultural Research Foundation (SHRF) in Kalifornien w\u00e4hlte diesen au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlichen Kultivar 1975 aus. Diese Stiftung f\u00fchrte zahlreiche schattenspendende Baumkultivare ein.<\/p>\n

Dar\u00fcber hinaus wurde der GINKGO biloba ‚Saratoga‘<\/em> speziell entwickelt, um das Problem mit schmutzigen und \u00fcbelriechenden Fr\u00fcchten zu l\u00f6sen.<\/p>\n

Die SHRF brachte ihn 1976 in den Handel. Er ist nach der Stadt Saratoga in Kalifornien benannt, wo die Stiftung ihren Sitz hatte.<\/p>\n

Dar\u00fcber hinaus datiert die typische Art, GINKGO biloba<\/em>, auf \u00fcber 270 Millionen Jahre zur\u00fcck und hatte ihren H\u00f6hepunkt in der Jurazeit in Anwesenheit von Dinosauriern. W\u00e4hrend die meisten seiner Artgenossen verschwanden, \u00fcberlebte eine relativ kleine Population in einem begrenzten Raum im Zentrum Chinas.<\/p>\n

Die Menschen haben die Art \u00fcber 1.000 Jahre lang am Leben erhalten, da sie als heiliger Baum in den G\u00e4rten japanischer und chinesischer Tempel kultiviert wurde.<\/p>\n
